Sixth grade PRISM presentations are this week! Students will learn more about PRISM for gifted and talented enrichment.
Hello everyone! I am the PRISM facilitator and run the gifted programming options for the students at CMS, which include National History Day, Future Problem Solving, Maker Ambassadors, and Passion Project. I also run a Lunch Bunch where we focus a little more on social skills and discussing current events. PRISM does not have an entry test and students self-select their research track. Each September, my colleague (Justin Dolcimascolo) and I push into all of the 6th grade classes at CMS and GMS to provide the students with a quick overview of the adolescent brain, enrichment opportunities, and taking time to find joy in learning. We follow this up with a PRISM for ALL orientation for anyone who thinks they might want to learn more. After that is complete, the students decide if they want to sign up for the year. This opportunity is open to all students. We often find that students have gifts in some areas and gaps in others. We hope to reach as many students as possible with this unique program every year. We will be virtual for now, but our normal location is room 619 by the Media Center. I can't wait to meet you!
I am currently pushing into all of the 6th grade science classrooms to provide background on the PRISM program and how we work as a talent development agency. Our program promotes student voice and choice and students are asked to select a pathway that will bring them joy. No one is required to participate in PRISM and there is no testing for our program. We cast a wide net!

One of the most important goals of education is to increase emotional intelligence. This is a fantastic podcast for parents, students, and educators to check out!
