Welcome back everyone! I look forward to working together for another terrific school year.  I wanted to let you all know about some things happening in PRISM:

PRISM for All will begin on Monday, September 18 during 7th and 8th grade Flex periods. All students who are interested in participating in any PRISM activities must first attend PRISM for All, so I thank you in advance for allowing these students to spend their Flex time for the introductory lessons on our gifted and talented opportunities and mindset. The dates are highlighted on our calendar - http://cmsprism.blogspot.com/p/calendar.html

I will be working with the 6th grade science teachers to introduce PRISM to all of the new recruits during the week of September 12. If you have any 6th graders with questions, please direct them my way.

As a reminder, students can choose from PRISM activities including Future Problem Solving, National History Day, Maker Ambassadors, and Scenario Writing. These are all year-long activities with competitions or events taking place throughout the school year, so it’s critical that students gain the background information necessary for success in these programs. Students who are interested in developing a research project attended a required, all-day workshop last spring; if you have any students who were not at CMS in the spring, but who are interested in doing research, please have them see me.

The Lunch and Learn program will continue this year, featuring speakers coming in roughly once a month beginning in October. These sessions are open to all students! If you have any suggestions for speakers who might be excited to come in to share their careers, or college majors, with our students, please let me know.

On Friday, October 6, students who are interested in participating in Future Problem Solving will participate in a kick-off training day to be held in the Media Center and Commons. I will provide a list of students who register for this all-day event, no later than Wednesday afternoon, September 27.
