Hello NHD researchers! Are you excited to share what you discovered! I'm honored to be your PRISM facilitator and witness how much you have grown this year. It is your time to shine!

Thank you to all the children who joined us in the PRISM room on Thursday. We had so much fun making Candy Catapults with you and tracking down the gummi bears. We hope you had a great time being makers with us!

All Inquiry Project students are encouraged to present their findings at Grover Middle School on May 13 (5:30pm set-up, 6pm begin presenting). You must stop in and see me this Wednesday or Thursday during your FLEX period to review the requirements. Your final draft is due on April 30. For rubrics and exhibition information, please visit the Edmodo inquiry folder for your grade level. This is a professional presentation of your research findings from the year. It is expected that your presentation reflects deep analysis and is able to clearly express why your topic is significant.

Congratulations again to all of our NHD researchers! For those of you moving on to the State Competition at William Patterson University, please remember that you will be responsible for your own travel. Websites and papers should have already been submitted, but exhibits still have time to conduct more research and make final tweaks!

Good luck!

Date: Friday, May 22, 2015
Time: 1:15pm – 2:40 pm
Place: CMS Theater
Audience: Seventh grade students
Guests from all four branches of the armed services will be present for our assembly.
For the past eight years, CMS 7th graders have reflected on the meaning of Memorial Day. Now, it is your turn. Using words, explain your personal understanding of this statement:
“All gave some, but some gave all.”
Write a poem, tell a story, or offer your own interpretation of the statement: “All gave some, but some gave all.” Focus your thoughts; you are limited to 100 words or less.
Check your work for spelling and grammar before submitting your final typed writing to your social studies teacher or your language arts teacher as well as Dr. McLelland-Crawley.

Please…do not make up a story. The best writing will be chosen by Dr. McLelland-Crawley; the selected seventh grade authors share (read) their writing during the 7th grade assembly on May 22. Family members as well as community dignitaries may join us for this assembly.

Student Name, TEAM, Homeroom Teacher, Social Studies Teacher, Language Arts Teacher
Submit writing to TEAM Teacher and Dr. McLelland-Crawley by May 4
Best entries notified by May 14
Practice reading session during Flex  and Lunch Room 814 (PRISM) on May 18-20

We are off to showcase and inspire once more! Please make sure you return your permission slip no later than Tuesday, April 14.

You will have 30 minute sessions with students in grades 1-3 about the Maker Ambassador program. Decide within the group who will lead the Makey Makey and littleBit sessions. Go to our Google Doc and add your thoughts for challenges, equipment needs, and lessons.

Don't forget that you need to be at Dutch Neck by 8am and that you need to be picked up by 2:45pm. We do not have a Maker Ambassador bus!
